A Journal Writer/Blogger's work is never done.

So, My recent savings at Vons 67% Yeah!!!! That was with my mom's club card and coupons. Again: Thanks to my new favorite websites. couponmom.com thegrocerygame.com I've been comparing the four grocery stores by my house and I'm surprised that Vons usually has the best deals. You save on gas too. If anyone ever has savings tips to share pass them my way...
Reminder: Mother of two kids with diapers. Recently quit my full time salary and replaced it with full time love and hugs from my kids!! (...that would be a cute mommy website title) I'm Loving Every XOXO!!
Confession: I've been using my parents old home phone number (from MoVal) for club cards for grocery stores since... well, forever. Haha. Its so fun to hear the cashier say, "Have a great night Mrs. Moss". All those that forgot whose blog this is...I'm Mrs. Avery now : )

Jumped on the bandwagon...I started the Twilight series!! My mom is shocked that I can read. I never really find stuff I want to read. I finished the first two books in 7 days. Thats CRaZy for me. Coming soon...I'll probably have a list of recent books I've read or a list I want to read...I'd love to figure out how I can have people make suggestions for books they recommend on my blog. Hmmm, "Courtney...webmaster...a little help...por favor"

Visiting Daddy at Work

No Heath isn't a trash man, but Jacob would love it if he was!

Heath works as the Branch Manager at Moxie Pest Control here in Corona. It's about a 5 minute drive from our apartment. Jacob and I love to go see Daddy at work. Jacob plays in Heath's office and we love to trace our hands on the white board with the markers.

The best part about the drive to work is that we pass the train tracks. I'm probably the only person on the planet that tries to get stopped by the train - only when Jacob is in the car :) Jacob yells, "It's the train!!!!!". The lights and the train cars get Jacob soooo excited. We roll down the windows to get the full effect. When we were at Heath's work today the trash man came too. Bonus! Oh, the date is wrong on my camera. Oops.

It was Lexi's first time going to Moxie today to see all the office girls. I recently quit as the office manager and it was so fun to see all my girls and to have them see Lexi. She's still too young for anyone to hold her but everyone was excited to see us and commented how much she looks like Jacob and Heath.

Jacob Playing in the dirt

Playing in the dirt during a play date at the Shumways.
Jacob doesn't get lots of time to play outside lately so this
was a real treat. He was filling the wagon with dirt.
He's actually looking at the camera :) 2/2/2008

New Favorites

My princess Lexi!! Looking more alert and beautiful everyday.

Jacob's smile. He finally started smiling for the camera and saying, "Cheese, smile mom"

Food Storage - I'm so into this now. Thanks Tenille! It's exciting and I totally feel that starting to get prepared totally helps to ease any fears about what's to come.

Trash Trucks - yup trash trucks! Jacob loves them and every time one comes to pick up the trash he runs to the window to announce to the world that he's come! Rips open the blinds and stands on the window pointing, "Trash truck, its a trash truck!!"

Zucchini Casserole. We had it for dinner last night. Its a recipe from my mom and it's in the Hidden Springs Ward "green" cookbook. Its yummy. Here's the recipe. I think it would be good with yellow squash too...hmmm...I'll try that next time.

Zucchini Casserole

4 medium zucchini cut ½ inch slices
¾ c. pared & sliced carrots
½ c. chopped onion
6 T. margarine
½ c. sour cream
2 ¼ c. stuffing mix
1 can cream of chicken soup

In medium pan, cook zucchini and carrots in salted water. Cook to desired doneness. Drain. In large pan, sauté onion in 4 tablespoons margarine until tender. Stir in 1 ½ cups stuffing mix, cream of chicken soup and sour cream. Gently stir in vegetables. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly butter 1 ½ quart casserole dish. Put mixture in casserole. Melt remaining margarine. Add remaining stuffing mix to margarine. Toss gently and sprinkle over casserole. Bake 30-40 minutes. Great as a meatless main dish or service as a side dish.

Happenings of this stay at home mommy

Where to start...

Jacob had his first honest to goodness tantrum today. Not just a meltdown, it was a full blown 2 year old tantrum. I have never seen him throw such a fit! No reason, not tired, not hungry, not over stimulated, hot, bored, needing attention...he just wanted to throw a fit!! Then, Lexi started crying because she's hungry and tired. Goodness! Believe it or not I started laughing to myself thinking - this is what I signed up for, you can do it Julie! :) Then 10 seconds later I got to my senses and all the sudden I felt 20 degrees hotter. Thankfully the fit only lasted a few minutes and all was blissful again in the Avery household.

Confession...Jacob ate his sisters medicine today. It was only her eye drops. He took off the lid with his teeth and gulped it down. I called the pharmacy to refill the prescription and to talk to the Dr. to make sure Jacob was going to be ok. She laughed and said that it was probably less than 4ml and he'll be just fine, lots of liquids. THEN, Lexi's nurse called to ask what happened and 5 minutes later another nurse called to ask how Jacob is and gave me the poison control number in case I have any problems. Let me just say this, all other prescriptions are out of reach but it just didn't occur to me that the eyedropper should be too. The 3 people that called about the incident all were probably thinking - crazy mom - watch your kid. haha. The moms out there already know without me saying this...you can't watch them every second so a baby proof house is best! Has this happened to anyone else?
